OverviewTwenty years ago in the small mountainside village of Sørli inTrøndelag, Norway, an aunt and her nephew started making homemade griddle cakes for the local community. It wasn't long before their delicious, authentic creations became a huge success and after the family business was acquired by Rieber & Son, plans were put in place to build upon Lierne Bakery's success and transform it into everyone's favourite cake brand.
ChallengeOur first task was to create an ownable pack structure and graphics for Lierne's Christmas (Julefryd) cakes, reflecting the brand's history and traditional values as an authentic, homemade cake producer.
IlluminationInspired by the colour palette of a typical 'Scandinavian Christmas', the new brand mark symbolises piped icing, telling the story of Lierne Bakery's origins, as well as linking the different products in the range. The simple winter scene communicates the warmth and cosiness of a traditional Christmas, making Lierne Bakery a natural choice not only for every day use, but also as a gift.
We sourced a carton board which, when printed on the reverse, creates a natural, homemade feel. The new, ownable pack structure builds upon the brand's history and heritage, reflecting its high quality product and enabling Lierne Bakery to stand out from its competitors.
